Moog Synthesizer Quintet

Setup the 3-tier rack for the Moog Mother-32, Subharmonicon, and DFAM. Thought I’d make a video of my first patch with all of them linked together in their new home. Included the Minitaur for some solid bass and the Grandmother for the sweet lead line. A lot of fun for my first recording, can’t wait to make more with this improved setup.

Imagine Music Box

Atlas - Imagine Music Box

Hey everyone, September’s Ableton download is here! This month, I decided to record my music box which plays the song Imagine by John Lennon. “A musical box is an automatic musical instrument in a box which produces musical notes by using a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder or disc to pluck the tuned teeth of a steel comb.” I’ve recorded the melody, processed the audio, and added the sample into an Ableton’s Sampler instrument. “Sampler is Ableton’s advanced sampling instrument. It’s extremely versatile, combining traditional sampling features with advanced sound design and synthesis.” This will allow you to alter the pitch, octave, duration, and more, while you imagine new ideas for your music. Given everything that’s going on in the world currently, I felt this song would be an appropriate choice for the moment, I hope this brings you some joy and lets your imagination run wild!

Red-shouldered hawk

Red-shouldered hawk

I spotted this magnificent Red-shouldered hawk yesterday sitting on a tree branch in the summer rain. We have a few that live in this area, but it’s difficult to tell whether or not you’re seeing the same one. The coloring on their feathers helps them blend flawlessly into the foliage, and if you’re lucky enough to see one, it’s rare to notice any unique features that distinguish it from another.

Usually it’s the size of the bird that stands out the most, we do have some considerably larger females that frequent this area. They’re easier to see through the forest than the males and tend to be hunting small rodents or snake which we have plenty of here. Watching these incredible creatures soar through the air and swooping down to the forest floor is such a treat and I feel very lucky to have been able to capture a few Red-shouldered hawk close-ups on camera over the last few years.
